Contemporary First Nations Art in Situ

Its one thing to appreciate First Nations art in model form, but for sheer grandeur and scale, it has to be apprehended in situ. My good friend Charles is resident in British Columbia and his father has an extensive collection of native art. Charles has been good enough to catalogue any sightings of poles and art in the field for me and has supplied these shots of various monuments and sculptures nearby.

Most of these pieces are modern, but it does show the way the ancient style of line and form meshes incredibly well with a contemporary aesthetic, to create striking and beautiful as well as functional displays.
